DIXIE COUNTY
Bounded by the Gulf of Mexico to the South, the Steinhatchee River to the west, and the Suwannee River to the East, Dixie County is a nature lover's paradise! With most of its land area comprised of forested, undeveloped lands much of the county remains in its natural state.

The southern portion of Dixie County borders on the Gulf of Mexico and is the setting for several small towns. Steinhatchee, Horseshoe Beach and the town of Suwannee offer year-round fishing for both the commercial and recreational fisherman.
|
The majority of residential growth is in the Old Town area while Cross City is the commercial center. The ability to commune with nature while having an easy commute to surrounding metropolitan areas makes Dixie County a natural hub for eco-tourism and and nature related activities.
