GOETHE STATE FOREST

This 53,398-acre forest is located primarily in Levy County; however, the closest city is Dunnellon. It contains the largest tract of contiguous, old-growth longleaf pine flatwoods in the state and has one of the largest red-cockaded woodpecker populations on state lands in Florida.

A Trail System runs throughout the forest with available access at three trailheads located on County Road 337.  The forest is open for regulated hunting and fishing along with recreational activities including hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing, horseback riding and picnicking.
