CYPRESS CREEK PRESERVE

Cypress Creek is a tributary of the Hillsborough River and winds its way through flatwoods, cypress and hardwood forests.  Located in central Pasco County east of Land O' Lakes it provides 12 miles of marked trails with separate camping sites  for equestrian use.  Nonpotable water and portable toilets are available.

Primary access is from Parkway Boulevard, 0.7 miles north of Pine View Middle School.  The west gate at the west end of Pump Station Road is accessed from Ehren Cutoff (CR 583) halfway between SR 52 and US 41.

GREEN SWAMP WEST UNIT WMA

Forty-two miles of marked multi-use trails are available amid the 34,000 acres of this WMA.  Primitive camping at an equestrian campground with well water for the horses is a feature of this varied habitat area.

J. B. STARKEY WILDERNESS PRESERVE

The J. B. Starkey Wilderness Park has 10 miles of marked equestrian trails with a corral and watering trough located in the equestrian parking area.  Equestrian camping is available at some campsites.  Riders are required to stay on marked trails.

From SR 54 go north on Little Road 2.2 miles, right on River Crossing Blvd. 1.3 miles, left on Starkey Blvd 0.3 miles, right on Wilderness Road to park. From SR 52 go south on Moon Lake Road 6.8 miles, left on DeCubellis Road 0.3 miles, left on Starkey Blvd to Wilderness Road.

Starkey Wilderness Preserve Serenova Tract is a favorite for horseback riding with 18 miles of trails winding through the natural communities of the Preserve.

 

WITHLACOOCHEE STATE FOREST
RICHLOAM WMA

Eight miles of shared trails for horseback riding, bicycling and hiking navigate the pine flatwoods, bottomland hardwoods and cypress swamps of this tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest.  As with all state lands children under the age of 16 are required to wear a helmet when horseback riding while all riders must have proof of current negative Coggins Test results for their horses.
