GREEN SWAMP WEST UNIT

The 34,000 acres of the Green Swamp West Unit WMA provide a multitude of recreational opportunities for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding.  Forty-two miles of marked trails and more than 50 miles of the Florida National Scenic Trail are available for bicycling, horseback riding, or horse-drawn buggies.  The Withlacoochee River with freshwater fishing, canoeing and wildlife viewing await.

STARKEY WILDERNESS PRESERVE

The Starkey Wilderness Preserve is comprised of three tracts:

J. B. Starkey Wilderness Park

This regional park features paved trail connecting to the Suncoast Paved Trail, picnic shelters, hiking, biking, equestrian trail and camping.

Serenova Tract

A favorite for horsback riding and bicycling the 18 miles of trails wind through the natural communities of the Preserve. Camping is available.  All water bodies are open for fishing.

Anclote River Tract

Access to this tract is from the J. B. Starkey hiking trails.  No trails are marked but hiking is permitted on unimproved trails.  The opportunity is here to experience a natural, undisturbed wilderness.

WITHLACOOCHEE STATE FOREST
RICHLOAM WMA

One of seven tracts making up the Withlacoochee State Forest, the Richloam tract consists of more than 56,000.  Hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, camping, horseback riding, hiking and bicycling share eight miles of trails with three loop hiking trails.  The Little Withlacoochee River runs through the northwestern half of the area.
