Return to Taylor County HOME

The perfect "get away from it all" location, Taylor County has numerous venues for kayaking, canoeing, cycling, or just hiking.  Enjoy birdwatching along the trail through pine flatwoods, oak and palm forests or salt marshes.  Nature lovers are at home here and  keep coming back for more.

Bordered on the west by the Gulf of Mexico and with miles and miles of pristine coastline there is an abundance of both commercial and recreational fishing and boating in Taylor County.  Try the Econfina River for flats fishing.  Or perhaps the mouth of the Aucilla River with everything from oyster beds to founder and tarpon.

Prefer freshwater?  The Steinhatchee River is fabled for its invasion of spotted seatrout during October and November.  Inexperienced anglers gain bragging rights here!

Taylor County boasts some of the best in hunting areas in Florida.  Deer, hog, migratory birds, turkey and small game are plentiful.  Four Wildlife Management Areas provide access to regular gun, muzzleloader gun and archery hunters. Choose which native habitat you wish to hunt - it's all here.
