Apalachicola National Forest

Although there are no designated horse trails miles and miles of old woods road make for excellent trailriding.  Horses are permitted to ride anywhere on the forest (except hiking and bicycle trails) with three  available trailheads.

River Road Trailhead: From Tallahassee, take US 319 (Crawfordville Hwy) south. Turn right on River Road 1 mile south of Capital Circlel. Pavement ends at the power line and the trailhead is on the far side of the powerline.

Aenon Trailhead:  From Tallahassee, take SR 20 west. Turn left at light onto Aenon Church Road. Turn right onto FR 328. Trailhead is on left side.

Fisher Trailhead:  From Tallahassee, take SR 373 south. Turn left on FR 362. Trailhead is on left side of the road.

Pull through parking - not signed - no fees at all three sites.

Wakulla State Forest

Located inside the Wakulla State Forest is the Double Springs 4.5 mile loop trail.  With low water crossings, inclines and winding pathways this trail is great for adventure seekers.

Directions:  From Tallahassee take Hwy 319 south to Hwy 61.  Turn onto Hwy 61 for approximately seven miles. Turn East on Hwy 267 for 2 miles.  Trailhead is on the North side of 267.
